Message I was running a 265/35-18 on it already. Hardly a stretch. Plus, the wheel's rim hit. It's like asking if a thicker tire will prevent the outside of the rim from cracking due to an impact with a curb. No size tire would protect that.
Sidewall can protect from slight grazes along the rim of the wheel. But when there's a lateral impact at speed, that tire is gonna move out of the way no matter what.
No biggie, nothing that can't be repaired. It's not like part of the wheel fell off or something, hahaha.
